How Jeremy Can Help

As Assembly Member for Neath I am able to represent constituents who live in the Neath constituency (which includes Neath, Pontardawe, Neath Valley, Dulais Valley, Swansea Valley, Pelenna, Lower Brynamman, Gwaun Cae Gurwen and nearby areas) concerning local issues that are devolved to Wales.

I welcome all correspondence from constituents and if I am unable to help I will do my best to refer you to the most suitable representative or organisation who can offer appropriate support.

Here are some frequently asked questions to help you understand whether I am able to offer representation and support:

What are devolved issues?

Everyone has the right to contact their local Assembly Member (AM) to discuss issues affecting them. The most common issues that people seek help with include housing, health, local services, education and transport but there are a range of areas devolved to the Assembly:

Ancient Monuments and Historic Buildings

Culture

Economic Development

Education and Training

Environment

Fire and Rescue Services and Fire Safety

Food

Health and Health Services

Highways and Transport

Housing

Local Government

National Assembly for Wales

Public Administration

Social Welfare

Sport and Recreation

Tourism

Devolved Taxes

Town and Country Planning

Water and Flood Defence

I work in Neath but live in another constituency, can you still offer support?

Due to the rules of the National Assembly for Wales, I can only represent you if you live in the Neath constituency. Sometimes, I may offer support on a wider issue that affects a group of people working in a Neath-based organisation, for example. Even so, you will need to contact your constituency Assembly Member for individual support.

I would like to invite you to attend a local event, how do I do this?

You can email or write to me with details of the event and my office will get back in contact with you. Please provide as much notice as possible since my diary fills up many months in advance.

I have issues with local council services, can you help sort it out?

I recommend that you contact the Council and raise your issue directly with them. You may wish to write to your local councillor for support too. If this does not resolve your issue then please contact me or my office directly. I will then be able to look into your case for you.

I have issues with local health services, can you help sort it out?

I recommend that you contact the Health Board, usually Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, and raise your issue directly with them. If this does not resolve your issue outcome then please contact me or my office directly. I will then be able to look into your case for you.

I am trying to sort out a housing matter, can you help?

If you are already with a housing association please get in touch with them to raise the issue directly with them. If this does not resolve your issue then please contact me or my office directly. I will then be able to look into your case for you.

Can you help me sort out my benefits?

Benefits are the responsibility of the UK Government. For support and advice about benefits please contact the MP for Neath Christina Rees, using the links at the bottom of the page. A number of local organisations may also offer advice, such as the Citizen’s Advice Bureau or certain disability charities.
